Some Canadian Global news reporter thinks the bottom of a sledding hill is a great place to do his broadcast. He was wrong.

Billions at risk from wheat super-blight – earth – 03 April 2007 – New Scientist Environment
“This thing has immense potential for social and human destruction.” Startling words – but spoken by the father of the Green Revolution, Nobel laureate Norman Borlaug, they are not easily dismissed. An infection is coming, and almost no one has heard about it. This infection isn’t going to give you flu, or TB. In fact, it isn’t interested in you at all. It is after the wheat plants that feed more people than any other single food source on the planet. And because of cutbacks in international research, we aren’t prepared. The famines that were banished by the advent of disease-resistant crops in the Green Revolution of the 1960s could return, Borlaug told New Scientist.

Goth clothes ‘prompted killing’ – BBC NEWS
BBC NEWS | UK | England | Lancashire | Goth clothes ‘prompted killing’
A 15-year-old boy kicked and stamped to death a woman because she was dressed as a Goth, a court heard.
The drunk teenager was among a gang of five who “savagely and mercilessly” attacked Sophie Lancaster, 20, and her boyfriend, Preston Crown Court heard. Miss Lancaster was begging the gang to stop beating Robert Maltby, 21, when they turned on her in Stubbylee Park in Bacup, Lancashire, the jury was told. The 15-year-old, who cannot be named because of his age, denies murder. The court heard Miss Lancaster’s facial injuries were so severe, paramedics did not know what sex she was.
WOW! That right there should spell death sentence for all of them.
Reznor: Radiohead offering was insincere – Arstechnica
Trent Reznor: Radiohead offering was insincere, industry is inept
“I think the way [Radiohead] parlayed it into a marketing gimmick has certainly been shrewd,” Reznor said when speaking to Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s Michael Atkin. “But if you look at what they did, though, it was very much a bait and switch to get you to pay for a MySpace-quality stream as a way to promote a very traditional record sale.”
Once again NIN is ahead of the game, offering shit like no one else will or can and backing it up full force. Hell they even have their own torrents on The Pirate Bay for Christs sakes! NIN FTW!

Andersen attorney on RIAA suit: “They can’t run now”\
The judge has barred further motions for dismissal, so unless the RIAA decides to settleâ€â€a move Lybeck believes is in the group’s best interestâ€â€the case will proceed through discovery and to trial. Unlike the thousands of lawsuits filed so far, the RIAA does not have the luxury of walking away from this case if there’s a real chance of embarrassing information being released. “Once discovery happens in the cases the RIAA brings, they run,” Lybeck says. “This is our case now, and they can’t run.”
Lack of competition sends Blu-ray player prices upward – Engadget
Lack of competition sends Blu-ray player prices upward – Engadget
Aside from the PlayStation 3 — which is actually priced fairly reasonably if you were in the hunt for a new console anyway — it seems as though HD DVD’s exit has actually caused Blu-ray player prices to creep back upwards. Granted, this is about as far from surprising as it gets — after all, it’s nothing short of supply and demand working its magic. Still, it wasn’t too long ago that we saw Toshiba actively putting pressure on the Blu camp to reduce prices in order to stay competitive, and now that said pressure has vanished, stickers on the whole have headed north.
All I’m going to say is “TOLD YOU SO!”

CNN apologized today for getting on-air analysis of Gov. Spitzer’s legal options from a former U.S. Attorney who resigned after being accused of biting a stripper.
Awesome.
