Woman delivers baby after DIY c-section
Woman delivers baby with do-it-yourself c-section – stunning-stuff
A pregnant Mexican woman performed a caesarean section on herself using a kitchen knife. The do-it-yourself c-section was successful and the woman gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
Experts say this is the first known case of a self-inflicted c-section in which mother and newborn baby survived.
Make GHB on the cheap!
Your Urine can make GHB – Wired Blogs
Imagine this: You take a drug test. Six months later, the lab gets back to you and says that your urine contains trace amounts of a club and date rape drug even though you prefer to spend weekends with your Xbox.
How easy is that, pee, refrigerate and SCORE!
Vampire Moths, the latest craze!
Skin-Piercing Vampire Moth Vants Your Blood – TreeHugger
No thanks to climate change, Finland is attracting species better-acquainted with warmer climes, including a moth that binges on human blood, according to a Finnish nature periodical.
Physics teacher wants to teach physics proper
I am a physics teacher. Or, at least I used to be. My subject is still called physics. My pupils will sit an exam and earn a GCSE in physics, but that exam doesn’t cover anything I recognize as physics. Over the past year the UK Department for Education and the AQA board changed the subject. They took the physics out of physics and replaced it with… something else, something nebulous and ill defined. I worry about this change. I worry about my pupils, I worry about the state of science education in this country, and I worry about the future physics teachers  if there will be any.
Fla. Rep. wants to cut funding to Colleges over file-sharing
Congressman Who Took Money From RIAA/MPAA Says Congress Should Cut Funding To Colleges – Consumerist
“We’re spending a good deal of federal resources in terms of helping universities with their technological improvements, directly and indirectly,” Feeney said. “Is it responsible for a Congress that wants to protect intellectual property rights to continue to fund network enhancements for universities if some of those enhancements are indirectly being used in fact to promote intellectual property theft?”
So since the CIA and FBI traffic drugs is he going to cut their funding too?
Witricity – Wireless power not just for your Wii either!
MIT Scientists Pave the Way For Wireless Battery Charging – WSJ.com
A 60-watt light bulb that glows even though it isn’t wired to a power source could pave the way for wireless recharging of cellphone and laptop batteries and the operation of mobile robots without batteries, scientists reported.
A team of researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology reported in the online publication of the journal Science, that they had demonstrated wireless transmission of electric power by magnetically coupled resonators. They dubbed their technology “WiTricity” for wireless electricity.
Cold Heat Solder Iron for electronics, think twice
Cold Heat Soldering Iron — better than a traditional iron?
The Coldheat iron requires an non-conventional soldering technique. It is best used for occasional simple DIY electrical or mechanical work, such as soldering a thin wire onto a small bulb, soldering two passive components together or fixing a small broken wire; occasional spot-repairs in difficult places, where you were unable (or couldn’t be bothered) to plug in an ordinary iron and wait for it to heat up; quick, spot-joint repairs where you might want the iron to be cold enough to put away quickly afterwards; isolated electronic repairs where you were satisfied that no surrounding components would be damaged by the voltage present across the tip.
Other People’s Porn
http://www.slate.com/id/2167389/
At first, I assumed our tuner had formed a mind meld with a cable box a few apartments over. My girlfriend regaled our visitors with tales of our TV-obsessed neighbor, a heterosexual male who loved large-chested women and Hollywood blockbusters. But even the most ravenous viewer couldn’t have this kind of appetiteâ€â€some evenings I was getting free movies and porn on 20 channels at once.
I solved the mystery by consulting online message boards. At tech-y sites like AVS Forum, other voyeurs described their adventures in freeloading. Apparently, I was intercepting video-on-demand channels through the power of my Samsung’s QAM tuner.
