The RIAA and MPAA need to LIE
The RIAA And MPAA Need To Lie – Consumerist
The RIAA and MPAA are telling California legislators that lies and deceit are an integral part of their anti-piracy strategy. The importance of lying, masterfully demonstrated by Jim Carrey in his 1997 hit “Liar Liar,” is at issue as California legislators mull a measure that would ban pretexting. Otherwise known as lying, pretexting involves the use of “false statements and other misleading practices to get personal information.”
Microsoft Mulling Portable Data Centers
http://www.datacenterknowledge.com/archives/2007/Apr/05/microsoft_mulling_portable_data_centers.html
The proposed solution is to no longer build and ship single systems or even racks of systems. Instead, we ship macro-modules consisting of a thousand or more systems. Each module is built in a 20-foot standard shipping container, configured, and burned in, and is delivered as a fully operational module with full power and networking in a ready to run no-service-required package. All that needs to be done upon delivery is provide power, networking, and chilled water.
NASA’s PILOT project could autonomously extract oxygen from lunar soil
http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/06/nasas-pilot-project-could-autonomously-extract-oxygen-from-luna/
A critical part of NASA’s PILOT (Precursor In-situ Lunar Oxygen Testbed) initiative, this digger bot will work hand-in-hand with a “processing plant that will add hydrogen to moon soil, heat it to 1,652-degrees Fahrenheit, condense the steam, and finally extract the oxygen.”

Michael and Karolina Tomaro are locked in a court battle with Swedish authorities, which rejected their application to name their six-month-old child after the legendary rock band.
“It suits her,” Karolina Tomaro, 27, said Tuesday of the name. “She’s decisive and she knows what she wants.”
i really don’t see a problem with this.
Airlines warned over compensation
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6525859.stm
For the last two years, airlines should have been paying passengers up to 600 euros (£400) for a cancelled flight.
However, the European Commission says passengers are often not informed of their rights, and thousands each year say they have not received payouts. The commission is threatening legal action unless the law is made to work.
here in the states, they’re practically daring us to fly.
Stephen Hawking’s going Zero-G on April 16th
http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/04/stephen-hawkings-going-zero-g-on-april-16th/
The world famous theoretical physicist has hitched a ride with Zero-G on April 16th. The specially modified 727-200 will take off from the Shuttle Landing Facility at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The craft will perform a number of parabolic maneuvers in flight to create a Mars-like, moon-like, and zero-g gravity experience — a flight lasting 90 minutes in total.
mr hawking held a lecture here in seattle last year, so i bought some tickets. imagine my surprise when the lecture began and someone walked onto the stage. this fellow explained that mr hawking had passed away this morning before his flight to seattle, but not to worry, “this happens all the time.” they resuscitated him, and he did his lecture via video feed.
